SHENANDOAH® Side Belt Nest System Provides Hen Comfort and Security

SHENANDOAH Side Belt Breeder Nest Systems are designed with bird comfort in mind. The open nest top design, ventilated nest side holes and stable nest bottoms on dual support rods offer a sense of security for the hen, resulting in improved comfort for egg production.
The popular SHENANDOAH Nest system is easy to assemble and fits on existing 12-foot (3.7 m) or wider slats. Standard features include ease of entry into the nest due to the natural step-up slat provided on the egg tray cover. A large, open nest top allows easy entrance to the nest, and the moving egg belt is not visible. Hinged nest tops help train hens not to roost in the nests. Egg trays are hinged for easy opening to allow eggs to be hand gathered if needed.
Nest sections can be arranged within the house in single, double or triple combinations along with up to seven passageway lengths to optimize the producer’s desired hens-per-hole ratio. Shenandoah’s nest parts packaging helps optimize shipping weight and combinations of parts for nest orders.
Producers are also able to order complete systems kits and can choose standard width nest holes that are 9.6 inches wide (244 mm) with 20 holes per nest section, or the larger hole option of 12 inches wide (305 mm) with 16 holes per nest section to more comfortably accommodate today’s larger hens. A variety of nest pad options – turf, molded (with decoy egg), or rubber finger – are available.
